John Stephen Cummins was Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Oakland and Episcopal Emeritus Director of the USCCA. Throughout his distinguished career, he has worked for ecumenism and social justice in the spirit of Vatican II. Click here to read more about Bishop Cummins.

Fr. Larry Lewis, MM

January 16, 1947–November 28, 2024

​

Fr. Larry Lewis built bridges of friendship between the United States and China as a Maryknoll missioner, theology professor, and author. He coordinated the Chinese Seminary Teachers and Formators Project for twenty years, from 1993 to 2013.  Click here to read more about Fr. Lewis.

Bishop Wu Junwei of Yuncheng

June 27, 1963–May 10, 2022

Bishop Peter Wu Junwei of Yuncheng, a diocese in Shanxi, was ordained in 1990. He served as parish priest in Shagou, as rector of the Shanxi Major Seminary, and as ordinary bishop in the local diocese of Yuncheng. Click here to read more about Bishop Wu.

Fr. Drew Christiansen, SJ, Ph.D.

February 20, 1945–April 6, 2022

Fr. Drew Christiansen was Distinguished Professor of Ethics and Human Development in Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service, Senior Fellow at the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs, and a USCCA Director Emeritus. Sr. Catherine McNamee

May 9, 1930–August 30, 2020

Sr. Catherine McNamee was a prominent leader in Catholic education, serving for a decade as President of the National Catholic Educational Association and engaging in dialogue with world leaders on issues of education. Sr. Janet Carroll, MM

July 23, 1933–May 28, 2019

​​

A Maryknoll Sister of 66 years with a Ph.D. in Humane Letters from Siena College, Sr. Janet Carroll made her First Profession of Vows on March 7, 1955 at the Maryknoll Sisters Motherhouse, Maryknoll, NY and her Final Profession of Vows on March 7, 1961 in Taiwan. St. Carroll was deeply invested in the life of the Church in China and Taiwan. Click here to read more about Sr. Carroll.

The US-China Catholic Association was founded in 1989 by concerned U.S. bishops, Maryknoll, the Jesuits, and representatives of other religious orders in order to promote mutual support and fraternal ties between the Church in China and the U.S. Church.
